Mission and Purpose
The Mission/Purpose of the Highline College Nursing Program is to prepare competent novice practitioners who integrate effective communication and critical thinking into providing holistic care for diverse populations. Our graduates will demonstrate respect, compassion, and cultural sensitivity, and uphold ethical and legal principles in their practice of nursing.
The program provides you with a comprehensive curriculum that includes study in nursing theory and practice. You will gain practical experience through supervised clinical practice in hospitals, long-term care settings, and community health care agencies.

The most recent accreditation decision made by the ACEN Board of Commissioners for the Associate Degree – RN nursing program is Continuing Accreditation – with conditions.
The Associate Degree – RN nursing program is also approved by the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission. Graduates qualify to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
Eligibility is contingent on completing a Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) program as well as a passing background check. For information on Washington State rules and laws, visit the Department of Health website. Check the criteria used by the Nursing Commission for applicants with disqualifying crimes.
